Your Suunto training, in Claude and ChatGPT
OpenAthlete syncs your Suunto activities, sleep and HRV through Suunto's official API. Connect it to Claude or ChatGPT, ask about your training, and have the assistant plan sessions that reach your watch as Suunto guides.

How it works
Three steps, about five minutes
Connect Suunto to OpenAthlete
Create a free account, open Settings › Integrations and sign in with Suunto on its own authorisation page. OpenAthlete receives a token, never your password.
Add OpenAthlete to Claude or ChatGPT
In Claude, add a custom connector; in ChatGPT, turn on developer mode and create a connector. Paste the address below and approve on the OpenAthlete page.
https://api.openathlete.org/mcpAsk
Write as you would to a coach. The assistant calls the tools it needs, shows which ones, and asks before it changes your calendar.
Two official sign-ins, no password handed over
The community Suunto MCP servers we looked at have you register your own app on Suunto's developer portal and wait weeks for approval. OpenAthlete already has access to Suunto's API: you sign in with Suunto and OpenAthlete receives a token.
What the AI sees
What your assistant reads and writes, from Suunto

Suunto's own AI and MCP, and OpenAthlete
What each one does, checked on 3 November 2026. Nothing stops you from using both.
- Suunto AI Coach, in the Suunto app since 15 October 2026: conversation over your Suunto data, structured workouts and routes. It launched with the Race 3S (three months included) and reaches more watches in early 2027.
- Suunto's Chinese site documents a read-only MCP server (mcp.suunto.cn). We found no equivalent documented for the global Suunto app.
- Community MCP servers exist; they need your own app on Suunto's developer portal.
- Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, on the AI plan you already have
- Plans sessions in your calendar; they reach your watch as Suunto guides.
- Every device in one history: Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Polar and FIT files, with training load and form
- Free, open source (AGPL), self-hostable. Your coach can work on your calendar through the same server.
